• I have WP 2.7.1. On a page, I have a two column table in the page that I’ve been progressively adding images on the left and descriptions on the right.

However, when I add ONE MORE image/description combo and hit “Update Page”, the content in the page disappears! And then I have to go back to a revision to get back the content that was previously inserted. It doesn’t matter which image I use – it’s all the same. It’s just an issue with the NEXT ONE. Thanks for your help.

    Any suggestions?

  • Same issue here, when you add the 11th row in a two-column table with an image on the left and text on the right, the page dissapears when you hit ‘update page’. Works fine for 10 images though.

Using TinyMCE plugin to add table option within the editor, plus Contact Form and My Page Order above.

Same issue with WP 2.7, adding or editing images makes the page disappearing and I have ti reevrt to revision…very sad since everything was ok till then and I was happy with the speed of the new opera

    Does anyone have ideas?
I looked in PHPMyAdmin and the entry for the page is in the database – all of the HTML code is there. But no content on the page of the site and no content in the editor windows.
    Thanks.
P.S. Updating through database doesn’t do any good. It’s like wordpress truncates/eliminates entries above certain image/table limit.

I am having the same problem as well (2.7)! For me it is the 67th row in a 2 column table that does it.

Tried disabling plugins. Anyone have a cause or solution?

This just started happening to me today. Used TinyMCE to create table. Everything worked fine. Trouble started when adding images to new rows at about the middle of the table. Was able to recover work from AutoSave, but cannot get this to work. Anybody have any luck resolving this? Using WP 2.7.1 Was working fine with all plug ins, so adding a plug-in did not trigger the problem

me too! I can only do two rows!

Same thing happening to me with WPMU and tables.

Using WP 2.8.5, my content all disappeared after I installed All-In-One SEO Pack Version 1.6.7, and reappeared when I deactivated it.

What remained was the header, background, blank page, and index-page tab.

But I came in here to describe the problem, reactivated All-In-One SEO Pack, and the problem seems to have disappeared.

So maybe WP 2.8.5 handles the problem if you install, activate, deactivate, and reactivate??

If the problem returns, I’ll post an update here.

I just upgraded to 2.8.6 and I can only do six rows. On the seventh, no matter what I add, when I click “update page” it all disappears. I also had to restore from an earlier save.

    Has anyone found a solution?

I’m using WordPress 2.8.6 and I have had the same problem. But I think I may have found a solution – or at least, a workaround.

The Page Editor has two tabs – Visual and HTML. My workaround is just to stop using the Visual tab altogether. If you know HTML, you don’t actually need it. As long as I restrict myself entirely to the HTML tab, everything appears to work fine. I haven’t been using this solution for at all long yet, but I did do the following experiment which seems pretty conclusive to me:

I had kept a copy of the HTML (i.e. copied from the HTML tab) for a page which had been giving me a load of grief. I opened a test page, and pasted this HTML into the HTML tab. Then I pressed the ‘Update Page’ button 8 times in a row, with no problem.

Then I switched to the Visual tab and pressed the ‘Update Page’ button. The first time I pressed it, the content appeared to remain in place. However, when I pressed it a second time, the entire contents of the page disappeared.

I then repeated this exercise again, twice. Each time, the results were identical. I clicked ‘Update Page’ 8 times on the HTML tab with no problems. But when I switched to the Visual tab and started clicking the ‘Update Page’ button, the entire page contents disappear after the second click.

One more thing: For my workaround to work, you probably have to keep a separate copy of your HTML for the page and always work from that whenever you want to make any edits. After my last post, I clicked the ‘Update Page’ button to update the page after making another change, and although I did it on the HTML tab, the contents still disappeared. However, I noticed that the HTML was no longer exactly as I had pasted it from my backup copy (it had been neatly laid out, and now was less neat). So I guessed that what had happened was that when I opened the page editor, I happened to go first to the Visual tab, and when I switched to the HTML tab, it changed the contents in some way. I’m not sure what the change was, but it caused the problem to occur again. Certainly, I have found by experiment, that simply switching between tabs does seem to cause changes to be made to the code.

Anyway, I deleted the contents again, and pasted the code straight from my backup into the HTML tab, and made the change that way. And that seems to have fixed it.

Incidentally, just for interest, the page in question has no tables, lots of shortcodes (with divisions), and about 18 images.

    WordPress 2.9.1

I’m reproducing the same exact error as described by simono –

I’m attempting to create a table with 3 columns and 9 rows, each with a thumbnail image with a caption (it’s a Crew page with an image of each employee).

No matter if I use 3 tables, 2 tables or 1 table, when I attempt to add more than Six TOTAL rows, if I’m switching back and forth between the Visual and HTML editor tabs, when I try to add that 7th row of personnel, the whole thing blows up and NOTHING renders in the browser in the body content area when I view the page or the source code.

I’ve reproduced this on TWO separate sites with various plugins installed on each.

    My workaround is this –

    Install & use 2 plugins –

    TinyMCE Advanced
    WP-Table-Reloaded

So far, so good, although it sure would be nice to be able to create tables with more than 6 rows using only TinyMCE Advanced, and be able to go back and forth between the HTML & Visual tab without blowing it up.

    WordPress 2.7

I am trying to update a page, complete the changes to the content…update, and low and behold the content disappears!

Kept a HTML copy and cut and pasted same thing.

Through my toys a little, read the forum Simono suggested deleting the page, create a new page. Did that… same thing…Yep big dummy spit!

Tried to do the work arounds casabsolute suggested, it unfortunately will not let me do this as I had used only wire (which I am not any more) and I have to ask only wire for permisson to do this!

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
