    Hi,
I’m wondering 3 things, hope someone can answer:
When there’s a wordpress core update we see the following on the update page:
You can update from WordPress 5.6.2 to WordPress 5.7–en_GB manually:
(Update Now / Hide this update) buttons

You can update from WordPress 5.6.2 to WordPress 5.7–en_US manually:
    (Update Now) button

    My questions are:
    1) Is it normal to see both eb_GB and en_US? We want en_GB.
    2) If yes to #1, what’s the reasoning behind still showing en_US? as an option? If no to #1 what have we done to show both? lol.
    3) and again if yes to #1, is there a way to hide the en_US upgrade option? I’m paranoid another admin may click to install it by mistake. I’m not sure it would really cause a problem, but better to remove it out of the way.

We’ve used wordpress for years and it’s something I’ve always wondered when it comes to core updates. May as well ask now ??
I’ve put this in Everything Else because I don’t think it’s really support. It’s not breaking anything it’s just my own curiosity. But feel free to move it if better suited elsewhere.
    Thanks,

The US English version is the base version from which all other language versions are derived. Some language versions do not have 100% of the phrases translated. Those phrases that are not translated will show the original US English. Some languages have a defined fallback, in addition to the base version, like different forms of English (Australian, Canadian, British) or Spanish (Spain, Mexico, and others).

Choosing a language for the installation affects the whole site. Each user can choose a language in their profile, which affects the admin for them. But you won’t see any choices in the user profile unless you have switched your site to another language and WordPress then downloads the language packs for core and plugins/themes.
    Yui in Slack said:

You can switch site language to desired one for short time, to let it be downloaded, or install WordPress translation language pack manually for desired locale, then language will be auto updated and will be available for user profiles
Its not recommended to install too much, as if WP will detect at least one translation file, it will download translations for this locale for every plugin and theme installed (if available)

    Installing WordPress in your language
