The Events Calendar seems to struggle when WordPress is installed in a subdirectory rather than in the root folder for a domain. Problems include navigation using the datepicker, for example. The V2 views are particularly affected by this, somewhere in the rewrite logic.

This is a big shame, because it makes it very difficult to test a new version of the plugin – often enough you would do that in an instance of WP in a subdirectory. I guess the answer is to create a subdomain and point that at the staging subfolder, but I’ve not tried that as yet.

Edit: Have just tried the subdomain approach, which works OK. I’ll have to follow that line when testing new versions in future.

What I’ve also found, which is comforting, is that The Events Calendar appears to work OK when my Site URL and WordPress URL are different. This is a tactic I use often enough to have WP in a subdirectory but still use the root domain as the user-facing URL.
