Update notification via email?

A theatre collaborative has both a blog and a Yahoo newsgroup. The question has been raised whether the blog can send out an email to the newsgroup whenever a new post or comment has been added.

I know WP has RSS capability, and I’ve explained that to members of the group, but they’re looking for something more like a wiki subscription.

Is there anything like this?
