    Hi,
Sorry if this has already been answered but I’ve spent many hours searching how to update media library meta-data such as description, title etc. and haven’t been able to find a definitive answer.
The closest I came was this thread I know this for downloading, but I assume if you can download you can also upload meta-data with a csv file.
Please could you tell me if this option/plugin is available and how to use it.
    Thanks

Thanks for your question. It’s not clear if you are already using MLA, but let me start with some general information.

Many MLA users have images and PDF documents that contain embedded metadata using the IPTC, EXIF and XMP standards. MLA provides support for extracting this metadata and using it to populate WordPress fields, taxonomy terms and custom fields. you can find more information in the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab and on the IPTC/EXIF and Custom Fields tabs.

You can also extract the data on the fly for use in the [mla_gallery] shortcode to compose a gallery display.

Regarding CSV files, this is another option that works for some applications. The best place to start is in this earlier support topic:

Announcing the MLA CSV Data Source Example plugin

Note that all of these options are for adding metadata values to the WordPress database fields that support the Media Library. MLA does not have features to extract WordPress values to a CSV file or to alter the metadata actually contained in the Media Library attached files.

I hope that gets you started on a solution for your application. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding the above suggestions. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    Hi,
I would like to update the Title and parentID (redirect url) for images in the Media Library from a CSV file – I’m using MLA CSV Data Source Example plugin. Please could you tell me the names of the fields I need to use in the header record.
    Thanks

    Hi David,
I’ve uploaded a test csv file to Media Library, now how do I update the media library from the details in the csv file?

    Thanks

I have responded to your questions in the related topic you started:

MLA CSV Data Source Example. How to upload CSV?

I have left that topic unresolved so we can continue the dialog there.
