• Just wondering if there is a way to push to a Live site only the “changes” that have been done locally on what I guess is called a staging site, rather than doing a full backup and then a restore at the other end.

Any by staging site I mean simply say localhost/mytestsite/ and remotely https://mysite.com

I have used Backupbuddy for the initial remote setup but now making changes locally it would be nice just to push changes in the database, or, even the whole database but without having to delete the live one and then reinstall it. Just an import would be great ?

    Thanks

  • It is possible of course to republish and launch your localhost site to live, just like when you made the site. However this is often found to be too heavy handed, the all of nothing aspect makes it too hard.

What is in my experience much better is to copy and paste the pages and posts that you developed on localhost, similarly for any changes you made to menus or widgets etc. It may seem inefficient to have to re-author your changes but for me it works out well. Of course since I know in advance I will be doing this, it encourages me to keep good notes of what I am doing.
