Update issue on large multisite installs

Hello. I run a couple of WordPress Multisite networks at my office. I was able to update our smaller server (about 500 sites) to 4.18.1 without any issues, but our larger server (3000+ sites) is hanging up as soon as I put up the update forcing me to revert the plugin.

I see your init_ure_caps_multisite() function tries to loop over and switch to every blog before updating which is extremely intensive on our larger network. Any suggestions or possibility of changing this update method in the near future? I could figure out a fix but I like to avoid modifying third party plugins when I can.
