• I have this error:

“Update WordPress. Another update is currently in progress.”

    • I have waited 3 days
    • I have removed caching, and tried another computer and browser
    • I installed the plugin, but it says there is no issue.
    • In PHPmyAdmin there is no “core_updater.lock” in the WordPress options table

Does anyone know of another method to fix this?

  • Hi @intercommsa are you still having this problem?

If so, can you verify again that core_updater.lock is not in the database, and describe the method you used to check? Can you also verify you are checking the correct database by checking the functions.php file for the database name?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Yes, the update is still in progress. I am definitely checking the correct database, and there is no item in the Options Table with the option name core_updater.lock.

I checked the database in the config file, not functions.php (I checked both the theme and the core functions.php file and could find anything relating to me database.

I added a plugin “All In One WP Security” recently, but I did not use it to change the database name, and I have switched all the firewall and other settings off in case it was preventing updating. I can deactivate it if you think it might be influencing the problem.

I switched off the caching last week, and also cleared the cache again before trying to update today.

I don’t know if this is relevant – when trying to add a media category, I got the error message “could not insert term into database”.
