• I am sorry but your latest update ruined my site as I feared all this time.
    The error says:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function responsive_header() in C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-content\themes\responsive-childtheme-master\header.php:54 Stack trace: #0 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-includes\template.php(722): require_once() #1 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-includes\template.php(671): load_template('C:\\xampp\\htdocs...', true) #2 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-includes\general-template.php(41): locate_template(Array, true) #3 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-content\themes\responsive\front-page.php(47): get_header() #4 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-includes\template-loader.php(98): include('C:\\xampp\\htdocs...') #5 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-blog-header.php(19): require_once('C:\\xampp\\htdocs...') #6 C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\index.php(17): require('C:\\xampp\\htdocs...') #7 {main} thrown in C:\xampp\htdocs\latestiha\wp-content\themes\responsive-childtheme-master\header.php on line 54
    There has been a critical error on your website.

    I did enqueue the files, including css in functions.php – but it was no good.
    This is absolutely devastating as I put so much work into it. I had to roll all this back. Is there any hope to get all this into order? I spent so much time repairing all the previous updates and I am most frustrated with this another setback.

    @cyberchimps, I am sorry but you did not answer any of my four questions posted earlier above, in this very same post – 23 hours ago. Can you please get back to me on this? As for the header function, as I said I dealt with it and fixed it myself – I am not asking about the heard function at all. And I did advise @sch0k to replace his files in the child theme with yours to reflect the changes you made.
    And please, do not mark this topic as resolved – even if you reply, it does not mean that you resolved the topic. Thank you.

    I solved the problem with the hover myself without your help, so you can disregard this question.

    There remain two questions:

    1) The copyright has lost its link – it is non-clickable.

    2) Are we to expect yet more updates? It is not clear to me what you are updating in both versions 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 – it is difficult to find the changes on track changes in Prepare Diff as it does not give me a chance to compare your PHP files.

    I have to agree with everything @mailworm says in his post under his topic. I am in the same position – as I said I have to rework my website from scratch and this is a slow, painful process that I am going through without any of your help whatsoever. There is no explanation from you – you don’t support any customizations (except the inbuilt customizer) nor do you support child themes. Sorry, but the updates of your theme have not been managed well. What can I say? Very disappointing.

    I have just spent a few weeks rebuilding my site from scratch as previous updates prior to the 4.0 version broke my site. Now this evening just before I was about to replace my old site with the new site, I decided to apply the theme update and was shocked to find that the update has BROKEN my new site! It now looks an absolute mess! Just seems to me that the updates can’t be trusted anymore and I don’t want to have to spend hours fixing my site every time I update! Why has the update broken my site especially as I rebuilt the site using the new responsive theme?

    We have released a Responsive theme v4.3.4 with backward compatibility. Please update the theme to the latest release.

    Thank you.

    @cyberchimps just tried the v4.3.5 update, and while it removed the error, the resulting site’s design is completely broken. Like – too many issues to even start listing them. ?? This is NOT backward compatibility. Could you please fix the theme so it will continue to work?

    @cyberchimps, thank you for letting me know, however in view of @sch0k message I am not keen on updating to your latest version. I would have to know more about this update:
    1) Are you saying that it is safe to update from 3.40 to 4.3.5?
    2) You would have to give more information on what you consider to be “backward compatibility” – compatibility with what?

    Thank you.
    And please, do not mark the topic “resolved” – it is not resolved until we check that the upgrade works without ruining the design. I am marking it as unresolved. Thank you.

    @cyberchimps @mica123 just in case this helps narrow down where this went off rails – I have v3.7 working, and running the Responsive theme on the site since 2012 without prior such update issues

    @sch0k @mica123

    The backward compatibility means we have added commonly used older functions, hooks, and filters which were removed in last few releases. Please check the file for the list of deprecated functions core/includes/functions-deprecated.php

    If you have further queries, please raise a support ticket from the CyberChimps site.

    Thank you.

    @cyberchimps why would you accept that an update of a widely used theme such as yours after years of flawless (or fixed, in a case I recall) updates would suddenly kill carefully developed designs? This will probably prevent more sites than just ours from updating. Currently planning a new web project, and this practice would discourage me to use Responsive for it…

    @cyberchimps, I am not sure if updating to the version you recommend will keep my site intact because you basically made drastic changes to the original design on which based our own designs with a lot of hard work. In any case, do not mark this topic as resolved because it is not resolved. I am again marking it as unresolved.
