Update Failed when posting

Try disabling all themes/plugins and try to post again.

Did that, still no joy

Same problem, all plugin disabled – still dont work – “Updating failed”

Change the permalinks setting to the default value (plain), and try to save again the post. If it works, change the permalinks back to the original setting

Thanks for suggesting that it was set to plain, so I moved the setting to something different and tried again. No joy

Update: Thanks for the help all, seemed tied to an outdated PHP copy on my host which has now been corrected. All good again
