    Hi,

On one of the sites I maintain I cannot update the plugin to the most recent version.

    The error is as follows:

Update Failed: Could not copy file. ml-slider/themes/theme-five/screenshot.png

Everything else is fully up to date.

    Can anyone suggest anything?

    Thank you!

  • Hi @emma_w,

This error has to do with file permissions on your server. You could just delete the plugin and install it again. You won’t lose any of your slides or slideshows. Let me know if it doesn’t work still.

When I try to install it again I get the following error:

Installation failed: Could not copy file. ml-slider/admin/assets/fonts/interface/Interface-BoldItalic.woff2

I have no idea what’s going on – no issues with any other plugins on this site, or with this plugin on any other site.

    Hi @emma_w,

I’m not sure why it’s happening, but it’s related to your server and folder permissions. Do you have FTP access? I found this guide on Google that can walk you through installing the plugins via FTP. You might need some credentials from your host (or setup in cPanel). Let me know if you get stuck somewhere.

    Hi @emma_w,

I’m going to mark this as resolved as we didn’t hear back, but please feel free to comment or open a new issue if needed, thanks!

I have the exact same problem as Emma describes. I do not have any kind of file access to the server, which should not be needed. Other addons do not need any extra file access! How to fix this?

Apologies. This pattern of error is not symptomatic of a problem with permissions, but with lack of disk space in the web hosting account. You should check on the available space in your account. WordPress needs enough space to download the plugin, unzip it, and then move the files across.
