Hey there, I’ve been trying to update the plugin to no avail. When I click on the update, it is showing me an error “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete –?please attempt the update again now.” Also, “

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Enabling Maintenance mode…-1″

Furthermore, my website immediately goes offline for a while and shows a blank page that says “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

Please let me know how to fix it. Thank you

    Regard,

    Atif

  • Had exactly the same problem and it was driving me mad! You need to deactive the plugin from cPanel because you can’t from WP dashboard (due to the error) Then logout/clear cache from your device and then log back in to WP then Rollback to Version 3.1.24 of starter sites and everything is good again!

    Solution:

The issue was being caused by a plugin bug that has now been fixed.

If your site is stuck in maintenance mode, you can fix that by deleting the “.maintenance” file in your main WordPress directory (probably /public_html)

To update to the fixed version:

    1. Deactivate the Starter Templates plugin (since it’s breaking the updater)
    2. Update the Starter Templates plugin to 3.1.26 or higher
    3. Reactivate the Starter Templates plugin

I am marking this as Resolved as this has been fixed on v3.1.26.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??
