• Hi,

I cannot update WordPress or any other plugin. I am getting following error.

Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

How can I get rid of this error and update the WordPress and other installed plugins.? I searched everywhere and I couldn’t find out any solution.

Here is a example for a plugin update error.

An error occurred while updating Advanced Custom Fields: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. core/fields/date_picker/images/ui-bg_flat_0_aaaaaa_40x100.

I tried to update WordPress and Plugins by deactivating the iThemes Security. But there is no worth.

Anyone can update plugins manually instead of updating via WordPress Admin Panel.

Here are the steps you can follow to update your plugins,

    1. Backup your Web Site and database
    2. Download the plugin from the plugin repository
    3. Unzip the downloaded plugin
    4. Delete the existing plugin from the plugins directory (“wp-content/plugins” directory)
    5. Add new plugin to the plugins directory
    6. Check from the Plugins area in the admin panel whether plugin is updated to the latest version and in the activated state
