• I am using version 3.7.2 of this plugin. The Plugins page said there is an update for it but the update pink area says there is no automatic update. I clicked the more details link and tried to update the plugin from there but got “Update Failed: Plugin update failed.”

I was able to go to the WordPress Plugins page and download the new version and upload that to my plugins directory. That’s the only way it will work.

Not sure why that is. The update process is done by WordPress core

I just reinstalled the 3.7.2 version and it updated through the normal process.

I’m also unable to update to the latest

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

Updating Plugin AVH First Defense Against Spam Plugin (1/1)

An error occurred while updating AVH First Defense Against Spam Plugin: Update package not available.

    Disabling Maintenance mode…

    All updates have been completed.

My revolution was to delete the files and copied over newer ones via FTP

I also get “An error occurred while updating AVH First Defense Against Spam Plugin: Update package not available.”

Deactivated, uninstalled 3.7.2 and installed 3.7.3

I have this installed three other websites and it failed on them also. “Update package not available.” I tried your suggested cleaning up of the database options but that didn’t help me. Only way to get it to work is manually install version 3.7.3

Same Update package not available error…

I was running 3.7.2 on a number of sites and experienced the same Update Failed issue. However, I was able to simply deactivate, update and reactivate successfully, without having to delete and reinstall.

+1 also have had this issue over the last month or so.

The deactivate, update and reactivate worked for me too after the update had failed. Thanks.
