Update Database fails and can't access Dashboard after 3.5.2 update

  • I have error after upgraded / upgrading to 3.5.2.

    After go through update in the dashboard, I see a WordPress screen showing :

    Database Update Required

    WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

    The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.

    While I click on “Update WordPress Database”, a page with a WordPress logo show. That’s. Nothing more.

    I have tried going to
    /wp-admin
    /wp-login.php (takes me to login, but can not get into Dashboard)

  • Do NOT manually change the database version number!

    – Why? It fixed the problem for me and now I have access to the dashboard and everything works fine. In this case it was the only solution that worked after I tried other options.

    Why?

    Because you have absolutely no idea whether the database was actually updated. If it wasn’t, then all you will have done is confuse the issue still further by attaching a sticking paster over a potentially serious problem that could bite back big time later on.
