I get this “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” message whenever I try to update my wordpress/plugin/theme using the one-click feature at https://www.pbt.com.sg/wp-admin/update-core.php

I’ve since manually updated wordpress to 4.8.3, but I still would like to fix this so that I can update all my plugins and my theme.

    Please help!

If, for some reasons, your server does not like auto updating wordpress/plugin/theme, try Manually updating:

    WordPress:
Download WordPress again and unzip it. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Please read the Manual Update directions first.

    plugin/theme:

“does not like” updating – I have already manually updated wordpress as mentioned above!

I’d really like to find out the problem though, because it’s really inconvenient to keep manually updating plugins.

    I understand.

But, this is not the default behavior of the WordPress core.

Therefore, would really like to find out the problem, my suggestion is to contact your hosting provider and find out why their server does not allow auto updating.
