• I see many sites that have been updated to 3.9.1 but on the dashboard next to WordPress 3.9.1 it still shows ‘update to 3.9.1’
And next to Updates the (1) remains as indication that there is an update – when there is not.
Doing an unnecessary update removes the notification.

Not a big problem, but just annoying ??

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Hi Esmi… seems al lot more complicated then just clicking “update to 3.91.” and letting the update run again..

Yes it is but it sounds like something may be stopping the update from completing in your case.

Mmmm, I just checked the first 6 sites in my WP-Remote app and 5 out of 6 reported the wrong status…
They are not on the same server. gets me a bit worried about the other +/- 90 sites that I did not check yet, but for which I received the “Your site has been updated” e-mail.
Means I will need to manually check all of them, grrr

Also makes me wonder what will happen if 3.9.2 arrives?

Further checking leads to 11 wrong out of 13… again, all of which have been auto updated earlier today.

What I find is that only the installs which are EN (original) report the correct status. the rest which are Dutch and German have the wrong status.

Could it be that the auto update was pushed out before the languages were updated?

I just checked the wp-content/languages content and there I see that the websites which report that there is an update have ‘old’ nl_NL.mo and .po files. That means they were not updated whn th rest of core was updated.

After I run the update again the date on the .po and .mo files is correct. So it looks like localisation is the cause…

If this is be because of a ‘premature’ push of the update it would be a problem that should have been avoided!

Any other explanations of these events?
