• After the last update to version 4.1.2 I can’t update pages, posts or even widgets. It just clears everything and all my changes are lost. I can’t create new pages or edit existing. I’ve checked all the plugins and try to deactivate them one by one but my site is still not working. As a small business owner I can say that having my website absolutely not working is causing a serious problem for me. Please suggest a solution!

It just won’t accept any post or page change.

I have the same issue with 4.1.2 upgrade on all my sites. It just won’t save any changes I made to any post/page/widget content. Won’t even publish a post/page if it’s in “Draft” – I get the “Your post has been published” message inside the editor, but I can still see the “Visibility: Draft” mode and the post/page is actually NOT published.

Regarding widgets – I can’t add new ones, changes do not get saved – nor can I edit the existing ones, same issue.

After I did a rollback to 4.1.1. everything works OK.

    Have you tried:

    • flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
    • deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read “How to deactivate all plugins when you can’t log in to wp-admin” if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old
    • switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentyfifteen. That will force your site to use it.
    • manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first.

After it’s absolutely clear that there is a problem with the new version of wp especially with the save option. For me the only solution is to use the old wp-db.php but this is something like a temporary solution. I’ve deactivated all the plugins I use, I’m not using a cache plugin and I’ve cleared the browser cache. So it’s not a plugin problem. So I need some suggestions about the required mysql version so I want to be sure that it’s not a hosting issue.
Thank you all for the possible solutions but even the manual reinstall of the wp version didn’t resolve the problem.
Also what is an error 1484 in formatting.php and what can cause such problem when I want to edit a page.

Yes, there is a bug – that’s what that thread says and the patched version should be released very soon –

So did that fix the site? Just checking to be sure :).

If that resolves your issue, then wait for the patched version that should soon released.

I hope the new version will be released soon and everything will be working properly again. Thanks for the support.
