    Hi,

I’m currently managing a store where some products belong to multiple categories. For example, a product might be assigned to:

    • Audio
    • Earbuds
    • Accessories

I’d like to designate one of these categories as the primary category for each product so that:

Could you let me know how I can set a primary category in WooCommerce for products with multiple categories using the CSV. I did it manually for 1 product and exported the csv but there is no column header showing the Primary Category selected.

    Thank you for your guidance!

  • Unfortunately there i8sn’t a ‘primary’ category setting in WooCommerce!

A lot of the SEO plugins add this feature though – I use SEO Press

The feature is there to be done manually in the product listing. I can make one of the categories the primary category by selecting it. If you are saying this comes from the seo plugin how can I do it via CSV for yoast. I have over 2000 products and cant do it manually.

    Thanks you

Yes, that’s where it will be coming from.

It may be set in the product metadata – try setting some manually then export them with the Export Custom Meta option checked – see if there is a Primary column in that.

    Hi there!
I can understand your concern. By default, there is no option to import the CSV with a primary category. For this purpose, you would need to find a plugin that allows you to import primary category data with CSV.

Alternatively, you can achieve this through customization, If you need more in-depth support or want to consider professional assistance for customization, I can recommend?WooExperts?and?Codeable.io?as options for getting professional help. Alternatively, you can also ask your development questions in the??WooCommerce Community Slack?as custom code falls outside our usual?scope of support.

    Thank you
