upcoming matches shortcode doesn’t show first game

Could it be that the first match is in a separate match type which has visibility set to “no”? Otherwise I can’t think of any reason why it shouldn’t show.

I found the visiblity, and it is checked.
It feels very strange that it just doesn’t show the first match.

I can’t reproduce your problem on my install. It simply shows the first match as expected.

Can you test what happens if you change the year of the first match to 2023? Does it now still show the England match as the first match? Or does this match disappear from the view?

When i change Qatar – Ecuador to 2023, it still dissapears
When i change the Engeland match to 2023, it also dissapears.
When i change both back, only England match is back on the shortcode.

That makes sense, but the purpose of this test was to determine if also the England game would disappear.
If yes, then it’s a problem with the first match always being removed. If not, then it’s not a problem of being the first match, but it looks like a problem with the Qatar match.

Another test. What if you change the Qatar match to 1 day after the England match? What happens then?

I just put the Qatar match 1 hour after the England match, now the england match is gone and the Qatar match is visible

I hope I can reproduce with your data to be able to debug it, because right now I honestly have no idea what is happening.

I was having this exact same issue until I noticed the issue isn’t there if I don’t use 2 fp shortcodes on one page. I was using a countdown and table of matches and I too wasn’t able to see the first match, but when I remove countdown the 1st match comes back. weird

Good catch! Thanks for this info. This indeed is causing the problem. The countdown shortcode is using a function that shifts the first element of an array if you use it to countdown to the first match (which is the default behavior). I’ll fix this in version 2.10.4 of the plugin.

For now there is a work-around by using the “match=next” parameter in the shortcode, e.g. like this:

[fp-countdown match="next"]

If you are using the shortcode to countdown to the start of the tournament, this will of course only work until the first match has started. Because after that, it will start counting down to the second match.
