Upcoming: Doesn’t display birthday month

thanks very much for this great plugin!

I use the upcoming consecutive days-mode and display it via widget. I import the birthday list from a custom WordPress field in the format “20170224” (expected date format is set to “Ymd”). The plugin seems to correctly interpret the date format since the order of the upcoming birthdays is right.
Unfortunaltey, the widget doesn’t display the month:

WordPress date format is set to “j. F Y”. As soon as I change the WordPress date format to j.m.Y, the widget displays the birthday as 24. 02 2017 (missing point).
What do I have to change in order to use “j. F ” as date format?
