    Hi,

I threw my site (still in beta, sorry no link) at the W3 link checker and got errors with relative links.

I use pages and subpages, and relative links like ../subpage2 to refer to another subpage under the same page. There is no problem when you follow the links on the site: then the link shows up correctly as /site/page/subpage2. However, when you start directly at the subpage, like the link checker or from a bookmark *without* the closing slash, the link shows the subpage directly under the top level, as site/subpage2.

While I can see the logic of it (no closing slash = not a “directory” to back up to), it is annoying and confuses link checkers.

Could this be repaired? Can I repair it myself? Comments?

(Note to self: Add correction of my redirection .htaccess for the old site to to-do list)

  • While not exactly a fix, you might be able to work around the problem with the permalink-redirect plugin. This plugin silently redirects all requests to /foo to /foo/, making sure that navigation is consistent throughout your site.

Might be an easy way to sidestep the problem you’re having.

This thread show another way to approach this problem, using only .htaccess.

Thanks! I went the plugin route, and it works like a charm.

(Note to self: also check for missing /’s in site URI’s) ??
