• I’m suddenly getting pop-up Google ads on different pages of my site. I have never signed up for Google ads and my developer can’t find any unexplained code for them. According to my Siteground tool, my website is clean. How do I fix this? My developer has given up.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Can you provide a screenshot of such ads? And are you the only one seeing the ads, or is your developer also seeing these ads?

I don’t see any Google Ads on your site. I’ve also checked your site’s code and cannot find any code that could be serving such ads.

    Thanks for your assistance.

The ads don’t consistently appear. I do have a few screenshots but how do I attach them here? (Sorry, I’m new to the forum and not very tech savvy.)

You can upload them to Imgur and paste the link here.

Thanks. You can see a few places where an ad appeared or actually is, plus what I saw when I clicked through to see “details” about the ad’s appearance. I’ve seen these pop up at numerous places on my site. https://imgur.com/a/wCQQ5QP

I checked those pages, and even checked all the product pages, but saw no ads. I even tried changing my IP to a US location (some adware scripts target specific countries), but still got no ads.

Have you tried accessing the website on a different browser/device? If not, please try that, and if you don’t get any ads there, then I would suggest disabling Chrome browser extensions. A malicious extension could also inject ads.

In case you are getting ads on different browsers/devices, it would be difficult to help, unless someone else here is also getting those. The only other way that comes to my mind is asking you to generate a HAR file. Make sure to log out of your website first, open dev tools to capture network requests, and visit pages until you see an ad, then save the logs as a HAR file. You can sanitize it to remove all cookies and share it with your developer to see if they can find any suspicious activity. HAR files can be opened in all major browsers, or otherwise use Google’s HAR Analyzer.

I’ve seen these pop up at numerous places on my site.

Has your developer or anyone else EVER seen these ads other than you?

If you’re the only one seeing these ads, then the simple explanation could be that your own computer is infected and injecting these ads — and the problem is not on your website.

Thank you, Ashutosh Sharma and George Appiah. I’ll check further, per your suggestions, though as I’m not very tech savvy it’s all quite intimidating. My developer has also seen the ads so I don’t think it’s just my computer.
