This is not really a problem with the WP installation, but is an issue with Godaddy. Through the hosting service, I requested a free WP 2.5 install.

The install went fine but at the top of my blog is an advertisement for Godaddy that appears to be permanent. I was wondering if anyone else had this ‘problem’.

I have another install that I did a couple years ago (manually) with Godaddy and the advertisement is not there. I guess I can do a manual install to avoid this.

    Comments?

Don’t use the GoDaddy Free hosting. Buck up for the economy or something.

There’s no other solution. The free hosts are ad supported.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Actually I love spending money. I have at least 10 paid hosting accounts and over 20 domain names registered with GoDaddy so I have plenty of other places I can park another blog with them.

I think the mistake was using one of my many unspent ‘credits’ toward a ‘free’ hosting account. No where do they mention that the ads come with the ‘free’ hosting and I did not make the mental link that my ‘credits’ really translated as’free’in GoDaddy jargon.

I’m not really complaining (well maybe just a little) as there was zero loss on my part other than a little bit of time. I’ll have more fun and spend a heck of a lot more time setting the WP account up myself.
