Unwanted field

    I been creating my own website its not the finished article yet and its been updated from a much older wordpress blog site. I have installed a new theme and some new widgets and plugins. I seem to have generated a new field at the top of each page which shows which catagory the post/page is assigned to it. How do I get rid of it/where has it come from ?

    I also want to get rid of the “Published January 31, 2010 | By redjester |” information that appears at the top of the page or at the very least move it to the bottom.
