    Hi,
since last updates I get unwanted characters in mail subject.

    For example this:
    “Comitato Scientifico Direttivo – Delibere”
    turns into this:
    ‘Comitato Scientifico Direttivo =?UTF-8?Q?=E2=80=93=20Delibere=27?=

WP and plugin are up to date.

    Any help?
    Thankyou

    Hi @aledef,

That’s the result of the UTF-8 subject line option. For some reason that I still haven’t figure out, some sites/clients don’t work well and you end up seeing those characters instead of the UTF-8 version (the characters are the quoted-printable representation of UTF-8).

You can get rid of them for now by disabling the UTF-8 subject line option in bbpnns settings.

    Cheers,
    Vinny

Hi Thanks for the quick fix for this issue, I too was seeing the issue.

FWIW, I hadn’t updated any plugins on our site for 5+ months and was seeing this issue. However, I had updated the WordPress version, so it’s possible that something in the latest release is causing the issue.

    Cheers,
    Joe

    Hi,
I unchecked “Encode Subject line using UTF-8” in bbpnns settings as you suggested but I still see unwanted chars in subject line.

    Cheers,

@aledef, can you please paste the example after you unchecked the UTF-8 option?

    Sure,
here is the full subject line:

    'Comitato – Delibere'

Please note that what you see here is not exactly what i posted: instead of the dash I see some unwanted code.

The code is: #8211; preceded by &

    Cheers,
    Ale

    Thanks.

That’s what the UTF-8 subject line option is supposed to convert. I’m trying to find an alternative for when the UTF-8 option is off.

    Hi,
the problem has shown up again after last update!

    Hi @aledef,

I replaced the hack from version 2.13.2 with a proper fix in version 2.14. Have you updated to that version? If so, is your UTF-8 subject line setting enabled?

    Cheers,
    Vinny

    Hi Vinny,
version is Versione 2.14 but F-8 subject line setting was actually disabled.

I’m quite sure I had already enabled it begore, anyway, I have enabled it now.

    Thanks!
