• Hello everyone.

After trying Google Ads for several months in my site https://www.rideintobirdland.com, I decided it isn’t worth it for me. I deactivated my GoogleAdsense widgets and used my Google Ads control panel to block as many types of ads as it allowed me to (some categories are “too large” to block) (?).

The thing is, when I visit my site using Safari I get no ads at all, apart from two footers that I personally control, which is exactly what I want. However, when I visit my site with other browsers (Chrome and FireFox, for instance) I still get obnoxious empty ad boxes popping up constantly, even while trying to work within the WP Dashboard. It really is a pain!

I do not want my readers to suffer this annoyance, but try as I might I have not found a solution for this. All WP plugins I’ve found are about getting ads in your site, but I haven’t found any that will block ALL ADS from showing in my site.

I also tried using add-ons on the web browsers themselves to block ads, but the pesky empty ad boxes continue to appear.

I pay for my own hosting, shouldn’t I be able to control this? Perhaps using some code I can insert into my Child theme? (I use Child Theme Configurator).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi IvanGabaldon,

Can you specify where you’re seeing these empty ad boxes? I’m not sure I see any on your homepage.

    Hello istein,

Thanks for looking into it. ??

I just checked it again using FireFox. I get empty vertical ad boxes on the left and right sides of my posts (in the light-grey area of the Twenty Ten theme), and even worse, I also get horizontal ad boxes inserted between paragraphs and images, and one below the masthead! Some of those are not empty, they have ads in them. ??

It’s a bit of a relief to hear hear you don’t see them, anyways. What browser are you on?

    Thanks!

    IGH

    Hey,

You may have already fixed this, but I’m still not seeing the boxes on Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. Can you post a screenshot?
