This plugin has appeared on 6 out of 7 of my WordPress sites, and I didn’t install it. Is this plugin automatically installed by any other plugin, or did it replace a different plugin?

    Hi, @talaysen

It was probably installed by your hosting provider. You can get more information about that here.

I also went to update plugins on my WP install, after I got notification of an automatic WP update. When looking at plugins that needed to be updated, I found that litespeed had been installed, somehow, automatically. When I updated the plugins, one by one, my site crashed at the update for litespeed. I had to use FTP to remove the plugin. Messy way of doing it but it was the only way to get my site up and running again.

Lisa is correct, at least for me. This plugin was installed by the server owner. I believe my host added it to all sites running WordPress via cPanel (maybe through Softaculous).

It’s worth noting that the one site that didn’t have this plugin added to it was already running a different caching plugin. It’s a little irritating to me that my host would implement a plugin without my permission and without any notification, but that’s also something that comes, unfortunately, with using shared or managed hosting.

The compatibility issue with PHP5.3 was just fixed. Apologize for the inconvenience.

With LiteSpeed cache plugin, you can see lots of benefit with higher speed that other cache plugin, as the cache is server level while not script level.

If you get any issue, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Thanks for your feedback.

    Best regards,
    Hai

@lanesharon – your experience pretty much mirrors mine. I vaguely remember getting a notice that it had been installed by my hosting provider (Stablehost). I didn’t have any problems until I allowed an update about a week ago. I immediately started getting ““Fatal error: Unknown: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in Unknown on line 0” “. Couldn’t even get back to my site as the admin. Asked about it here, but never got a response. I was finally able to recover my site and get back up with help from my hosting provider, recovering the entire site from a backup at the cPanel. As soon as I had it back up I disabled the plugin. I see all the rave reviews, but can’t tolerate. I came here just now hoping to find some more discussion and possible real resolution.

Hi @edstevensdba, apologize for the compatibility issue between our certain plugin version v1.2.2 and PHP v5.3. It has been fixed in the latest version. In the latest version, there are also lots of exciting features which can help improving your site’s speed significantly.

Hi, @hailite – so what is the “latest” version, that you promise will fix the problem? After restoring my site from a backup that pre-dated the corrupting upgrade, I disabled the plugin until I’m sure that it is safe to re-enable and upgrade. Right now it is at v1.2.1, and prompting to upgrade to v1.2.3.1. I don’t want to re-enable and upgrade without some confidence that this versio – 1.2.3.1 will not take me down again.

    Hi @edstevensdba,

Yes v1.2.3.1 can work for you.

    Best regards,
    Hai
