    Hi Alberto,
    Thanks for your message.

There’s no way for a user to unsubscribe from messages at the moment, no. This is on the roadmap however.

However, as a work-around, you could put a link at the bottom of the email with a line similar to:
    <a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=I would like to Unsubscribe.">Unsubscribe</a>
and when that email comes through to you, you can remove the user from the notification that you have set-up manually.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi voltronik,

What if I added a user role instead of selecting the users? There’s no way to use the method you suggested above to remove users from the mailing list, correct?

    Hi badcom,

That is correct – there is no unsubscribe functionality for the plugin at present.
I have plans to integrate something in the future but it’s a little way off yet.

Just to clarify, and something i’ve mentioned in the FAQ, is that this isn’t designed to be a Newsletter plugin: it’s a notifications plugin, so i’m trusting site admins to be vigilant against creating spam for their users. It’s probably in their best interests to do so too, being that they’ll want user retention to be as high as possible. After all, no one likes spam!

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jack

There is no Unsubscribe method? Whether its a newsletter or notification plugin I’m fairly sure the law regarding email and unsubscribe features is quite clear.

There must be an unsubscribe faciltiy

    Hi solarman2,
    Thanks for your message.

Can you link me to something where I can read up about the law and subscribe/unsubscribe with regards to site notifications?

Unsubscribing is on the roadmap and you can provide user with a method of unsubscribing now by including some text about the bottom of your notifications (please see comment #2 above). Although not automated, it is achievable, even if not entirely practical, for smaller sites.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Voltronik,

You could add a “Do not send” field, where we could select users.

What would be nice is a unsubscribe shortcode. The shortcode could delete the user or change is role to a new one.

What solarman2 is telling is true, at least here in Canada:

    Hi francisperron,
It’s a tricky situation. As far as I know, it is the person that runs the email list / website / app – whatever is sending out messages to comply with these laws, not that of the service provider specifically. Here in the UK, we have similar laws. Mailchimp take care of this for you so that you can rely and trust on their services. As it’s a closed system (you can’t see their source code and edit it yourself), they have to provide a compliant service. A website, created using open-source software is slightly different I think though.

I do have plans for an unsubscribe service but it’s a little way off yet.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jack
