You’re using an older version of FFMPEG that doesn’t recognize the newer bitrate options. Turn on the “Enable legacy FFMPEG ‘-b’ and ‘-ba’ bitrate flags” option in the plugin settings (/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=video-embed-thumbnail-generator/video-embed-thumbnail-generator.php)

Thank you. Wow, that was quick. I followed your advice, but now I get this error:

Error while opening encoder for output stream #0.0 – maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height

Try the other legacy option “Enable FFMPEG ‘vpre’ flags.”

Thank you. It seems to be working now. I just had the FFMPEG installed on my account by the host, and I guess I just assumed it would be a recent version. Silly me!

    Thank you!

There are a lot of old versions of FFMPEG still in use. In a future release I’ll check for those error messages and give you a prompt to change the settings, since it’s not immediately obvious that there’s such a simple solution.
