Unreadable Characters in RSS Feed

  • I’m getting some weird characters in my RSS feed that render correctly on my site, but not in aweber email broadcasts that pull from the RSS feed.

    For example, apostrophes look like this in the RSS feed:
    ’ or ’

    Then in the email, it looks like this:
    a€?

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Eeek! Is there a way to try something without disabling all plugins on the live site? Maybe just on a staging environment?

    I have a suspicion it might have something to do with smart quotes.
