Unread Posts widget

This is related to my earlier post, “”, but I thought it would be better with a separate topic.
Can you create a widget that shows X number of unread posts? It can range from “You have no unread posts” (or customizable text) to a listing of X number of posts that have not been read. This would be different than recent activity, since I may have read the most recent topics and don’t need to know about those any more.
It would also be nice if if had a link in the widget that marked all unread topics as read.
I not finding existing widgets that do this, but I see some that try. Am I correct that you are the likely provider of such functionality if I want it to respect the private groups? I don’t want people to see unread or recent posts they do not have access to.
