• Ok perhaps so few stars is harsh. I do appreciate such responsiveness from plugin devs which I thing bodes well for any plugin project in general. Amended.

@wordcrunch Since joining the www.remarpro.com community you have only written negative reviews.

Here’s my response to this review:

Over the 6 months, the Free version has expanded with many new features, including these:
    – The “Editor Features” screen.
    – The “Admin Features” screen.
    – A new “Roles” screen that will launch next week
    – A completely updated “Backup” screen, and next week week it will be expanded with an import and export option.

All of that is new in the Free version in just the last few months, and there’s more to come.

I know it’s unlikely that all this will change your review. But next time, before posting yet another 1-star review for someone else, please pause and try to offer some helpful or perhaps even positive feedback.

Well if it helps here are some of the items I think need to be addressed:
    – list features that are available and more importantly features that are *not* available in the free version versus the paid version on the plugin page so that people don’t have to waste time installing, configuring and testing the plugin just to discover that the needed capabilities are unavailable.
    – Add an option for “all/unspecified/default” so that if new roles are created, they can adopt the permissions that have been set up instead of being unrestricted, since it’s highly likely that the dev adding the role will know to even check such a thing.

Yes, I have only reviewed plugins that are defective in some way. This is irrelevant, but if you are suggesting that I only have hate in my heart or something, so be it. Perhaps you might derive some satisfaction from the knowledge that for plugins that are good, instead of wasting time echoing what others have said I use them, recommend them to clients, and pay for the premium versions.

    Thank you for replying, @wordcrunch

When it comes to listing Pro features before you install the plugin, I hope we’ve done that on the main listings page for the plugin. You’ll notice the (Pro version) label next to anything that’s not in the Free version. Do you think there are ways that this can be clearer?

An option for “all/unspecified/default”? Thank you. That is a helpful idea. At the moment, the best approach is to copy an existing role that has the capabilities you need, but we’ll see if we can incorporate your idea into a future release.

Regarding negative reviews, thanks for explaining. I hope the detailed list of improvements we’ve added to add to the Free version will change your mind. And if doesn’t it may be helpful to someone else reading this.

Thanks for changing the review @wordcrunch

I meant it when I said that default capabilities are a good idea. I’ve put it on the ideas list for our team: https://github.com/publishpress/PublishPress-Capabilities/issues/341
