Unpacking the package… Invalid Data provided. Plugin install failed.

  • Hello guys. I am struggling a lot because I cannot install plugins. Any plugin I try to install (whether uploading a zip file or via search bar) I get these errors:

    Unpacking the package…

Invalid Data provided.

Plugin install failed.

    This didn’t happen when I was in the previous version I think. Maybe it is due to a 4.0 version. Do you know any other possible way to upload plugins or any way to fix it?

  • Just starting to get that myself. I deploy through Git so I imagine that it may be a permissions problem. I’ll report back if I have any constructive findings.

    Looks like I was pushing my WordPress submodule on a detached HEAD. Fixed the head by deleting local changes and tracking the master, then pushed, and problem solved.

    This would lead me to believe that if you don’t use the same system as me, at least something is wonky with your wordpress install, and you probably want to start fresh.
