Unordered list styles?

Hi all, I am having an issue with my unordered lists. Unfortunately i can post my site here because I am working locally. My lists on pages are showing fine. However, there is a white thin border under every list item and when I hover the items the background changes color. I just want it that to disappear so I can use the lists without any styles. I looked everywhere and can’t find it in the CSS. When I inspected the html in Firefox Developer every item has a js mouseover/mouseout. How can I remove this from my lists? Appreciate your help.
