I just installed this. It was working. Then it wasn’t.
I am referring to the backend. The menu on the left has usually little icons beside the titles, but now it only shows the icons that indicate Firefox doesn’t know what to show.

Also, when hovering mouse over menu items, the submenu does not slide out. Again, I am referring to the backend, Dashboard area. Not my actual site.

Deactivated all three plugins (Akismet, Jetpack, iThemes Security) and it made no difference.

    Re-installed WordPress. Made no difference.

It’s not my browser, as I have another site open in a separate tab and it works fine.

    What is happening?

Nevermind. It was a stupid installation problem. WordPress was installed in a weirdo folder and when I changed the General Settings, it still loaded, but not all of it, I guess. Dumb. But changing the URLs in the General Settings “fixed” this problem.

    OK, I give up!

The icon problem was fixed, but then I tried to Preview a post and got a 404. Published fine and was able to view, but if I can’t Preview, then it’s pointless.

Uninstalled WordPress, deleted all leftover files via FTP. Deleted databases.

Downloaded WordPress and installed manually (as opposed to using host’s auto installer) and … same problem: weird symbols instead of proper icons. Very frustrated now!

    Any help?

    Thanks!

Looks and works fine in Chrome. The problem is in Firefox. But I have other installations that work just fine in Firefox. Why this one? I don’t get it.
ie in Firefox, starting a New Post shows ALL fields, though not necessarily functional: Featured Image is just a blank box with no link to Set Featured Image.
I have deleted Firefox cookies for my domain and also emptied Cache and restarted. No love.

    OMG I’m dumb!
    lol
I have NoScript installed on Firefox (but not Chrome). As this is a new site, I hadn’t Allowed it yet. Didn’t even occur to me that all that stuff is JavaScript-based.
Well, it is. And now it all works.
Maybe I’m not the only dummy and my error (and solution) will help someone else….
