    Hi,
Two separate post events showed up in Audit Trail Viewer. The first has message: “WordPress Post entitled “Shelby Nixon – 2016-02-06 18:00:16″ was permanently deleted from trash” and Username “unknown”, the second has message “Post entitled “Sterling Chase – 2016-02-21 21:54:45″ was updated.” and Username “unknown”.

These posts do not exist in my WordPress posts list, and I did no editing of posts at all when these events were listed. I can’t see any other evidence of tampering with my site – there are no other alerts and everything else looks normal. Do you have any idea what this may be related to?
    Thank you,
    Debra

    Hi Debra,

This is exactly what this system is designed for – to highlight strange behaviour. It’s quite possible that someone has gained unauthorized access.

Do you have other users with access to your site?

I see also the from: Unknown in my audit with an IP. The “Unknown” author post is actually a legitimate draf post that is posted/enabled with a scheduler (The Unknown = WP CRON and the IP is from the server hosting my WP).

This could be better logged as CRON or something else, because the Unknown is scary.
