Since the last Word Fence upgrade, all live traffic on my first site is now showing “Unknown Location” where the info previously showed it [a city & state, country, et al]. Today, my second site has also begun showing “Unknown Location” and I DID NOT upgrade that site yet.

When I check “Connectivity”, it shows this:
wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: cURL error 7:

This is on BOTH sites now, as of today. I also have a message:
“The last rules update for the Wordfence Web Application Firewall was unsuccessful.”
    Manually updating attempt also fails.

Any help is appreciated. The problem seems to be expanding to my second site (on 2 separate servers).

    Thank you,
    Cheryl S.

    Hi @rush_woman,

Despite the sites being on separate servers, are they provided by the same hosts? It looks to me with a cURL error 7 suddenly happening that configuration has been changed at the server-side as both of those sites can no longer communicate with the Wordfence servers and back to itself.

This kind of error is mostly seen in new installations where the site connectivity issue was previously unknown. As you’ve been successfully using Wordfence and now cannot (across two different versions of Wordfence), it certainly seems like something has changed, possibly with HTTPS or a firewall that is now blocking your site from seeing our servers. I would certainly check first with your hosts to see whether there was a change around the time you started to see these issues.

Failing that, we can look into your site configurations a little closer if you could send a diagnostic report from both sites to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

Note: For the fastest response time, please make sure and add any information or questions directly to this topic and not the email address above unless asked.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke with my hosting service and it looks like the issues may be resolved. The timing of the issue seemed to correlate with the Word Fence plugin upgrade — and that upgrade caused a couple other issues with my site so there did seem to be a relationship there.

    Best wishes,
    Cheryl
