  • I have the exact same issue.

Since the 11.0.7 update yesterday, mp3 files are unable to validate and gives “Unknown error occurred while checking Media URL.”. The audio plays on the embedded player, but it’s not submitted to podcast directories (Spotify, etc). Also, all previous posts that were validated previously, are now “red”. I’m at PHP 8.2 (I tried PHP 8.1, same, PHP 7.4 is depreciated)

    Hi @greektimes,

That’s strange. Even though I am receiving this validation error, my latest post after this update did show up in my feed, (https://your.domain.com/feed/podcast/), and Spotify picked it up just fine.

It isn’t mandatory for PowerPress to verify a media file URL for the file to be published; as long as the media file URL works (not a 404), the media file URL should be fine in your show’s podcast RSS feed and/or any links to the file on your WordPress site should work normally.

Ken, I tested your media file URL: https://wackbox-audio.b-cdn.net/Shane-Nathan-Interview-144.mp3

With my own site and the file verified without any issues. Are you getting the “unknown error” message before you publish a post or does it show up after a post has been published?

I don’t know for Ken, but in my case, it fails to verify with “unknown error” before and after I publish. I tried both. Also, as I mentioned, just to test, I went to edit old posts that previously verified ok, and now they ALL have “unknown error”.

Is anyone experiencing this error using any security plugins/services such as Cloudflare, Securi, etc.?

From my side, I don’t have any of these. This morning I also disabled temporarily ALL Plug-ins in wordpress, other than Powerpress. Same error.

My host is Ionos. I don’t know what Ken’s and @kccafe host is. If we all have Ionos (formerly 1&1) that should be the culprit (they are known to implement security features)… If not, it’s a bug. But then again, this issue appeared after the 11.0.7 update. So I doubt it’s the host provider.

    Hi @shawnogordo,

I am using iThemes Security now and prior to the update.

@greektimes – I too am receiving these errors as I stated in the initial support post, but my XML feed it updating correctly and the frontend is working fine. As for my hosting, I am on my own VPS running CentOS with Apache/2.4.57.

My hosting provider is Hostgator. I receive the message when I click the “verify” button next to the URL box. I did not know I could go forward with publishing the post. I will try that now.

Update: I went ahead and published the post and it does appear correctly on my site and shows up correctly in my RSS.

All of the information provided here has been useful. I’ve passed everything on to the Blubrry dev team so they can investigate further.

    Hi @shawnogordo,

I can confirm that the latest release, version 11.0.8 has corrected the verification error for new and previously verified posts.

Thanks for such a quick turnaround on this issue. Kudos!

For anyone that’s not on the other thread about this: an update was released for PowerPress yesterday that addresses this problem.
