    1. What outgoing connections do I need to open up?
    2. Where is the log available to explain the network call that is failing here?
    3. Where do I need to open these network connections? On the CDN or on the webserver (I suspect I need to open them on the webserver)

Thanks for reaching out. As cURL errors are typically associated with your hosting configuration please share the following and I’d be happy to provide some troubleshooting suggestions:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Have you been able to setup Site Kit previously on this site or any other site on the same hosting platform or using the same CDN?

Any troubleshooting suggestions I might provide may involve reaching out to your hosting provider or making CDN changes. Once I know the above I’ll be able to advise further.

In relation to your queries see the below:

    1. What outgoing connections do I need to open up?

The plugin needs to be able to connect to https://sitekit.withgoogle.com. I can share a cURL or WP-CLI command to check this if you wish to check this yourself.

    2. Where is the log available to explain the network call that is failing here?

This is no log files output by the plugin. You can however use a plugin or enable debugging if you wish to check for any errors. You could also use your hosting PHP error log files also to see any errors output.

    3. Where do I need to open these network connections? On the CDN or on the webserver (I suspect I need to open them on the webserver)

Users don’t need to make any changes to a standard WordPress setup. The plugin will try to communicate with your website using your sites REST API. If you’re using a CDN as long as your site is available this shouldn’t block or restrict access.

Once we know the information requested above I can take a look at your setup and advise further.
