• Hi Zulfikar,
Ever since WordPress upgrade 4.0 I get this “{{unknown}} in front of most H2 headings only on Homepage? not all!
I have tried asking WordPress for help, but no one has replied, so I am at a loss now. Its not a very nice thing to have on Homepage of my site.

    Can you please help?

    Thanks latestgoss . com

  • @toon229 Have you been able to resolve this yet?

no, sadly I’ve not solved this issue yet. I really like the theme, but this is a serious issue. You are correct in saying that it ruins the look of the homepage. Additionally, the theme developer here doesn’t seem interested in solving it. I suspect that it has something to do with the stylesheet and how it’s interacting with version 4 of WP. The stylesheet is quite complex and I think was written for the theme developer by someone else. The issue lies within whatever mechanism decides the preview format or it’s styling…

@toon229 I really appreciate your response. Yikes! It’s frustrating for sure. If we figure anything out on this end, I’ll definitely come back and let you know. ??

OK guys, I’ve isolated the issue and I’m in the process of looking for a solution.

The problem is how the theme’s function to return a video as part of the excerpt is interacting with posts that have custom fields generated by plugins. These fields are whats being returned as {{unknown}}.

Quick workaround for now is to remove code from line 304 to 317 in functions.php.

I’ll try and get an update out on the site in the next few days – will submit to www.remarpro.com as soon as I iron out the plugin territory issues.

    Regards,
    Zulf

    w00t thanks!

Yes, like @toon229 said, thank you!!! ?? w00t!

Also adding a plug-in like “Advanced Excerpt” seems to correct the issue, plus I just think it’s a cool plug-in…

@toon229 Oh, that’s really helpful. Thank you!

Any updates on this? I actually had the same thing happen on my latest post (though not any previous posts). I’m using the twenty fourteen theme and already had Advanced Excerpt installed. https://www.tennisessities.com

    thanks!

Phillip at WPMUDEV helped me out. He suggested adding the following bit of code in the visual editor of each post where I wanted the excerpt to end:

    <!–more Read more –>

From there, in your theme settings / customization, there is no need to select excerpts and no need for Advanced Excerpt.

And “read more” can be replaced with other phrases, such as “continue reading”, etc.

    hope that helps others.
