• I’m having trouble with the setup of WP. I installed it on a Windows server running PHP v7.2 and everything was good except i could not change permissions so I could upload image files — always received an error.

I reinstalled it on a Unix server but they are only running PHP v5.5 so it’s not running there, either.

Will the Windows version work well and is there a way for me to set permissions on a folder in a windows server so that folder and all child folders inherit the same permissions without having access to admin section of the actual server?

there are many articles across the internet that explain how you can change/set file and folder permissions. Like the one i liked above (one of the first results for Google search)

Please note – file/folder owner should match the user account that runs your web server software on the machine (can be special system user)

It is not a WordPress issue, so in case of troubles – refer to your webserver software documentation.

As for Unix – PHP 5.6.20 is required minimum, while some plugins and themes demand higher version.
