Unique portfolio category parent pages

I have a portfolio that features 5 different categories. I would like the 5 parent pages to these 5 different categories to have unique written content.

Unfortunately the ‘taxonomy-portfolio-category.php’ template with my theme doesn’t allow unique content for the different category parent pages. It only features the “image left” style of display.

Does anyone have any advice as to how I can either create unique Portfolio Category pages for the different categories or use a ‘Post Parent’ instead of a ‘Portfolio Category’ page as a parent to my portfolio pages?

In the Breadcrumb Settings, I see there is an option under Portfolio Hierarchy to use a ‘Post Parent’ instead of ‘Portfolio Category’. However I’m not sure how to assign a post parent to a portfolio page.

Another issue is that the portfolio root page will need to remain in the breadcrumbs.
