    Hi all,

I recently (stupidly) deleted the download-monitor plugin (due to a hacked website).

I’ve reinstalled it – and the categories are still there (as are the underlying media files) – AND their counts (in “Downlooads/Settings/Categories”) – BUT no files are showing up on the actual page.

I know I’m doing something wrong – but am not really a WordPress guy, and kind of inherited the site. I know linux very well – and a bit of mysql. I have ssh shell access to the site.

Can someone please point me to what to do – even if it mentions where the entries in the DB are? How does the plugin know the counts for the various categories, where are they, and can I get it going again?

There are some backups available, some have been deleted.

It’s a not for profit education institution in Sunny Australia, and enrolments are really key for them right now.

Thanks a ton for any help,
    Paul

    Hello @pablollama ,

Could you please check if you have shortcodes ( like [download id="xxx"] or [downloads] ) or Download Monitor’s Gutenberg blockw in your page ?

Also, could you please specify the version of Download Monitor, WordPress and PHP ?

    Kind Regards!

Hi Razvan – thanks a ton for this…

    Wordpress Version: 5.9
    Download Monitor: 4.5.0
    PHP Version 7.4.27

The text on the page before I reinstalled Download-Monitor was:
    ———————————————–
    COVID-19

    [downloads category=”covid-19″ template=”title”]

    Adult education

    [downloads category=”adult-education” template=”title”]

    Youth programs

    [downloads category=”vcal-vcal” template=”title”]
    —————————————————
    etc.

I’ve not made any changes to the Download_Monitor default settings since I reinstalled it (and don’t really know what they were beforehand).

Somehow the numbers of files in each category have been preserved, so I guess that’s somewhere left in the database. (Any hints regarding where that might be would be much appreciated).

I’ve attached a link to a screenshot of the “Download/Categories” so you can see what I mean, if that helps. It’s at: https://softbeach.com/Merinda-Download-Monitor.jpg

I guess also, is there some kind of extension/script I could run to update the database with the 150 or so files that we need on the site? I have shell access if that helps, and python and bash knowledge, but am pretty useless with WordPress.

Thanks a ton, and Hi from Sunny Melbourne Australia,

    Hey Paul,

Could you please go to dashboard > Downloads > Settings > Advanced > Miscellaneous and click the Clear all transients and after that go to dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and click Save changes button without modifying anything and test if the downloads work?

    Kind Regards!

    Hi there Razvan,

Sorry, I thought I’d got back to you on this, but I hadn’t.

I’ve done this, but the categories are still listed, with the count of the download for each category, but do actualy download files.

    Thanks a ton,
    Paul

    Hey Paul,

Could you check if the Downloads have actual file URLs in the Downloadable Files/Versions section ? Could you please send a screenshot when editing a Download from the dashboard?

    Kind Regards!
    Razvan
