Unified Login – WordPress User and iHonefinder

I just wanted to verify how the Optima Express plugin works with logged-in users.

When users log into WordPres, are they also logged into the IDX? When they log into the IDX, are they also logged into WordPress at the same time? How about logging out?

Also, do you guys add a body class for logged-in users so we can use CSS to display or hide certain items based upon their logged-in status?

Based upon the small amount of testing I’ve done, it seems like the answer to all of these is no, but I want to double-check and make sure before I jump to conclusions. I really feel that having a unified login between both systems is ESSENTIAL in having a site that works correctly.

MAKING MY CASE

Here’s why I feel like it’s essential to have this.

People expect a lot out of sites they visit these days. Everything is customized to the user. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc are all completely customized to each individual user.

The great thing is that WordPress can do this too!

With the huge number of Membership and CRM based plugins, you can literally fully customize a website based upon where a client is in the buy/sell cycle. Let’s just make a simple example though to start.

If somebody is logged into the system as a user, then you really shouldn’t be showing them requests to sign up. Instead, you should be showing them offers to go see a list of homes, go to a buyer seminar, or set up an appointment to get pre-qualified.

Or with a simple membership type site. If they download a free ebook on “How to Buy A Home” then they should automatically be added to my database in iHomefinder as well. It just makes sense to connect the two.

My final example would be for logging in to the site. Having iHomefinder separate from the WordPress user system means that our clients will have to log in twice whenever they visit our site. If they log into my membership area to download free home buyer resources and subsequently visit the IDX listings, then they’re going to be prompted to log in to their account or sign up again. Very confusing, and very bad user experience.

I really feel like this is a great plugin, and has the potential to hold me off from going full custom for quite a long time… IF I had a unified login.

Without that, I really feel like I’m going to outgrow the system quickly.

Other than that, I’d like to see a little bit more flexibility in the layouts and more advanced options for the use of custom templates, but I can work with it the way it is.

Is there any chance that we can get a unified login, or could you guys create a separate plugin for advanced users that ties the two together?
