I’ve tried to use a heart symbol (emoji) ♥ for my meta description in Settings > “Titel & Metas”

If i save these settings the html code &#9829 is shown as a symbol. If i save the settings once again all plugin fields are cleared to the defaults and all changes i’ve made within this plugin are lost.

Sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. The fastest way to rule out conflicts is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Seventeen. If this resolves the issue, you have a conflict and should activate one plugin at a time until you locate the conflict. Finally, after all plugins are active, switch to your theme. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or theme.

If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we wrote a small guide that will walk you through the steps. You can find it here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts

+1 :: I have the exact same problem : if I use emoji in Meta Description then Yoast doesn’t save the meta.

    But to solve this :
-don’t copy/past the emoji icon itself
-use the html code, for example “& # 1 2 8 2 0 0 ;” (space, because the forum display the emoticon -sorry) for a chart

It’s works in the yoast google preview.
    In the html code it show the “& # 1 2 8 2 0 0 ;”
but for now (because I solved it 5 minutes ago) I can’t say if Google will display it as emoji.

WARNING : when you update your page you have to write again the html-unicode-emoji code in the meta :/

So, i’m not sure if it could be, at first, a plugin conflict but a plugin issue.

Me too. I copy the Unicode to the meta description and it works visually in the yoast preview – everything looks good, though Yoast converts code to emoji.
Google doesn′t display my emoji, though, and taking it out is not a fix, IMHO.
