• Hello,
I’m using W3 Total Cache for some time now, and I activated the mail error notifications some weeks ago.
Since I activated this, I randomly get the following error :
“Unfortunately, an error occurred while creating the minify cache. Please check your settings to ensure your site is working as intended.

Thanks for using W3 Total Cache.”

It would be better to add at least some informations about this error that currently looks like you just wrote “Oops error!”

I have nothing in my logs except some “Redirection loop” problems.
I have some basic plugins like jetpack, akismet, wordpress seo, wp-optimize.

As i get sometimes (and everyday!) one or two mails like this, please tell me whatI should do to fix it.
I use the last wordpress version and the last w3 total cache version. All caching modules are activated.
    Thanks

  • I also got this error – did you check the minify settings? It told me:

Minify Auto does not work properly. Try using Minify Manual instead or try another Minify cache method. You can also try a lower filename length value manually on settings page by checking “Disable the Minify Auto automatic filename test”

After i checked the above referenced box the error disappeared.

Further CSS minify somehow doesn’t work. At least for non-logged-in users as set up, meaning not only CSS but also many php files are not taken into account if i check the result-page’s source code.

Ahh! so I’m not the only one in this case, I have got the exact same problem than you about this automatic filename test.

I forgot to talk about it, but I use Minify Manual where I put some JS and CSS files manually.
And when I put the jquery.js from wp-include in the minify box, all scripts using jquery don’t work anymore. So I had to minify only some basic scripts that are using no other libraries, and I still get this error message.
PS: I’m using Cloudflare, I didn’t check if disabling it remove this error message, but I don’t think so.

And did you check the above referenced checkbox? Further after any config change at W3TC that affects server sided caching you need to purge the proper caches.

I don’t think Cloudflare has anything to do with it – in the end it’s basically just a proxy.

Yes, before switching to manual mode, I had the automatic mode with automatic filename test unchecked, it was same.
Thats why now, even after using manual mode, I decided to open this thread, this error stays, even after emptying all caches.

    BUMP
Please I got today this error every 20 minutes!
I changed nothing to my installation.
Without any answer I will be forced to rate the plugin badly and to change to another caching plugin.

indeed, free support is bad. The dontt even reply to pre-purchase questions on there own professional products.

@keesjan: What question did we miss?

@AtX: You can go to Minify > Minify error notification > Disabled (from the drop-down menu) to stop the notifications.

I’m getting this error repeatedly – and we’re not even using minification. What a mess.

I posted a question about this several days ago still it’s not been answered.

@quantaweb: Email is the official support channel for W3 Total Cache, please send us a note so we can investigate.

I have received this error in my email for three of my sites in the last 12 hours and all those were set at “email notification” so changed that. My other 14 sites are set at “Disabled” so I should not get that error anymore. Would be nice to find a way for dummies to configure that W3 Total cache properly for the rest of it.

Maybe somebody should write a “W3 Total Cache for Dummies” book!

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t do me any good! So I paid the $150 to have W3 Total Cache professionally configured by them and now I don’t have any more problems and my sites score high at gtmetrix.com/
