• In the settings, at the bottom, is ‘Administration’, and

    Enable the editor enhancements for:
The main editor (Add New and Edit posts and pages)
    Other editors in wp-admin
Editors on the front end of the site

    – with checkboxes.
I can’t find any information on what these settings do. What are the ‘enhancements’? It’s on the main settings page. It should be explained.

Incidentally, having unchecked all the options (not sure why they were checked in the first place), the visual editor has returned. It disappeared when I updated the plugin.

Correction. Unchecking the boxes returned the built in mce which is what I was seeing. I understand the settings now – I was confused by the fact that on my older Mac, with Safari and Firefox, the plugin has stopped working UNLESS I restore the plugin to the default settings. I can then add one or two of the other buttons and it still works. If I add any more the visual editor is once more disabled. Chrome works regardless.

It’s all very frustrating and difficult to troubleshoot.

For whatever reason – various updates probably – it all seems to be working ok now. The mysteries of WP.

Yeah, sometimes it’s just “Gremlins” ??

Jokes aside, most likely the plugin settings got corrupted somehow. Restoring the defaults, then setting the buttons again should fix it.
