Unexpected character in input: – Line 1508

    I made the changes the the config, upload everything and navigated to the install.php and received this error:

    Warning: Unexpected character in input: ”’ (ASCII=39) state=1 in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\lewis-realty.net\httpdocs\blog\wp-includes\functions.php on line 1508

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘/’ in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\lewis-realty.net\httpdocs\blog\wp-includes\functions.php on line 1508

    I have not edited the functions.php so it should be exactly like it was when i downloaded it.

    Any advice to what could be wrong?

    I have figured it out I think and posting what happened in case any else just runs into something weird like this.

    Something went wrong when I ftp the scripts to my server, it seems as though maybe the files were not complete or were upload in the wrong transfer type although filezilla is set to auto.
