• Hi all,

Updating to 3.5 broke our custom content slider and we can’t work out how to fix it again, so we’d really like to revert back to prior to the update. Our backup plugin didn’t take a back up and our host only has a database backup.

We’d really appreciate help with the following things:

    – We have the theme files and the .sql backup. How would we go about reverting to our previous install?

    – Do WP updates make any change to the theme files?

    – We normally run the automatic backup but I can’t remember whether we were on 3.4, 3.4.1 or 3.4.2 before updating. Is there a way we could tell from either the database file or the theme files?

    thanks
    michael

  • You have to download an old version and fully delete the current one. Afte that your can reinstall the database using your sql backup ( phpMyAdmin and the sorts can import this ).

I would seriously advice against this though and I would try to fix the problem you are having with your plugin. Most 3.5 problems are small issues. You could look at the error log although I don’t know what problem you exactly have.

As far as I know WordPress never changes Themes. You have a seperate theme update notification for that, like the way plugins are updated.

I just did an update, but did not do any backups. I have never had any problems before, but this update broke my ability to get to the WP-Admin portion of the site.

My site works, but whenever I try to go to anything that is in the Admin back section, the site goes to my block and the ‘page not found’ error. It is like going to a post page that doesn’t exist. The URL says upgrade core is the new permanent page that everything in the Admin section redirects to.

How do I undo this stupid update that obviously does not work??

    Thanks.

@speakingbadger: As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic instead of a five month old topic that refers to an older version of WordPress.

Oh – and this stupid update worked flawlessly in all 15 of my sites.

I need to revert back to my previous theme . How can I undo the theme update? Please help!
    .

@potapiman – you can’t undo an update unless you (or your hosting company) have a backup of your site. If you need further help, please start your own thread as posted by esmi.
